Fresh problem for Macaire

“Leave Women Affairs Commissioner alone”

  • Ini LGA warn ‘Troublesome’ politician

It’s one week, one trouble for the self-acclaimed Political Leader of Ikono, Mr Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, popularly known as Macaire.

Just a week after getting a stern letter from key youth leaders of Ikono Local Government Area warning him to desist from acts that will fan embers of discord in Ikono and derail the thriving Local Government Area, plunging it back to the dark days of dirty politics, this time, another collection of youth leaders from neighbouring  Ini LGA has equally warned Macaire to leave Dr Glory Edet out of the rising spate of blackmail, derogation, character assassination and smear campaigns obviously sponsored by him.

In a statement signed by the crème d la crème of youth leaders from the LGA, Macaire was warned in clear terms not to only desist from throwing mud on the Commissioner through sponsored media onslaughts, he was also reminded that he should stop severing the age-long bond of togetherness that  exists between the people of Ikono and Ini.

“ We have elected not to be too wordy in this piece, but to simply yet sternly warn Mr Emmanuel Ukpong-udo and his media hirelings that we have had enough of his derogation and character assassination of the person and office of the Hon Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Glory Edet and shall NOT fathom any more of such.

“ Finally, let it be known to him that he is too “small” to severe the age-long bond of togetherness that  exists between the people of Ikono and Ini who were only administratively excised one from another in 1991 for the purpose of development.

“  Once again, we say Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, enough is enough. A word, they say, is enough for the wise. And to be forewarned is to be forearmed”, part of the statement read.

EMMANUEL UKPONG-UDO, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

The attention of the good people of Ini has been drawn to the rising spate of blackmail, derogation, character assassination and smear campaigns obviously sponsored by one Obong Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, a political figure from Ikono against the person and hard-earned reputation of our beloved daughter and sister, the Hon Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare Dean, College of Commissioners and Special Advisers, Dr Glory Edet.

Initially, we had elected to toe the path of maturity by ignoring the successive tissues of falsehood and fabrications, but it seems our quietude is being mistaken for weakness and stupidity. We have therefore elected to react especially to the recent attacks on her as authored by one David Akpan Ntuk, who claims to be a Political Analyst/President, Association of Home-based Politicians, lest unsuspecting members of the public take the lies for anything other than what they are:

(1)        It might interest Mr Ukpong-udo and Mr Ntuk to know that Dr Glory Edet is our proud daughter and sister, one who has holistically re-written the story of Ini and completely changed the political landscape of our Local Government; one who has replaced our shame with pride and our reproach with joy. Let it be known to them therefore that we owe her a duty to protect her from malicious and wanton attacks and this, we have resolved to do.

(2)        We wish to inform Mr Ukpong-Udo and his hirelings that attacks beget attacks and violence begets violence. May he NEVER make the mistake of believing that the psychological, infrastructural and mental transformation that our beloved Governor, His Excellency, Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel has brought to Ini with our jewel of inestimable value, Dr Glory Edet as the midwife, also extends to our becoming lame and docile and incapable of facing their likes if the need arises. If Mr Emmanuel Ukpong-udo draws us out, we will let him know that we are still the same old Ini youths.

(3)        Let it be known to Mr Ukpong-udo and his co-travellers that our epitome of peace and agent of human capital development is not interested in running for the Ikono/Ini House of Representatives seat in 2019. And so if the idea was to single her out for spurious attacks as one of his potential opponents (we understand he will be contesting for the said seat), let him henceforth look elsewhere.

(4)        If Mr Emmanuel Ukpong-udo and David Akpan Ntuk feel that blackmailing our altruistic daughter and sister will dissuade her from continuing with her sworn lifestyle of “watering the ground” for her boss, His Excellency Mr Udom Gabriel Emmanuel and making his re-election in 2019 an easy cake, they had better had a rethink as she is too “possessed” by the Governor’s re-election project to succumb to such cheap blackmail.

(5)        Let it be known to Mr Ukpong-Udo and Mr David Akpan Ntuk that any further attack on our source of pride and beloved daughter and sister, Dr Glory Edet shall henceforth be viewed as an attack on the collective mass of the youths of Ini, whose lives Dr Edet has tremendously transformed and the same shall be resisted with all the vim in us.

(6)        We have elected not to be too wordy in this piece, but to simply yet sternly warn Mr Emmanuel Ukpong-udo and his media hirelings that we have had enough of his derogation and character assassination of the person and office of the Hon Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr Glory Edet and shall NOT fathom any more of such.

(7)        Finally, let it be known to him that he is too “small” to severe the age-long bond of togetherness that  exists between the people of Ikono and Ini who were only administratively excised one from another in 1991 for the purpose of development.

(8)        Once again, we say Emmanuel Ukpong-Udo, enough is enough. A word, they say, is enough for the wise. And to be forewarned is to be forearmed.

Long live Dr Glory Edet

Long live Governor Udom Emmanuel

Long live Akwa Ibom state.
